History - Orange County Home Ownership Preservation Collaborative

On June 19, 2007, Wells Fargo representatives hosted a meeting with over one dozen community leaders to discuss the growing number of foreclosures in Orange County.  At and after the meeting, Neighborhood Housing Services (NHSOC) and the Office of Congresswoman Loretta Sanchez advocated for the establishment of a region-wide home preservation task force of non-profit, banking industry, and government leaders and, by December, the Orange County Home Ownership Preservation Collaborative (OC HOPC) was born.

Since then, OC HOPC has held ongoing meetings to share resources, coordinate educational forums, discuss solutions, and advocate for collective response to home ownership preservation challenges in Orange County.

OC HOPC now has dozens of active participants of diverse expertise in all aspects of home ownership and asset preservation.  In effect, OC HOPC serves as collective voice on the importance of foreclosure prevention throughout the region.

The organization leverages local resources whenever possible and ensures that local strategies complement statewide and national initiatives in foreclosure prevention.

Connie Der Torossian (of the Fair Housing Council of Orange County) and Clemente Mojica (of NHSOC) serve as Co-Chairs of the Collaborative.  Additional Representatives from Wells Fargo, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, Legal Aid Society of Orange County, and NHS serve as officers and committee chairs for the organization.

OC HOPC welcomes the participation of additional parties interested in serving borrowers in need.
